The cause of all the vibration has been the pile driver pictured here, which has been forcing it's way downward and pounding the ground into a solid foundation for the new school to be built on. About 640 bores were made over the course of the week which has been quite fascinating to watch.

So here we are a week later, June 12th, and a new set of photos to look at. The main thing this week has been the installation of the drains and, although it doesn't look like a lot has been done judging from these pictures, a big part of that job has now been completed.

As well as the drainage work Allenbuild have cut us some viewing panels in the fence (you can just see them in the first picture here) and put some wooden shuttering across the gaps at the bottom.

This shuttering is so we don't have to worry too much about losing balls under the fence, although we still have to be careful.

The other addition to the site, the triangles of fence panels with the high visibility tape, are safe points where the builders can use mobile phones etc; they have to think of everything these days.

Next, we're looking forward to the shuttering for the concrete base being put in place...............

Wednesday 17th and a sad start to the day, some of our trees had to be chopped down as there is a riask of their roots damaging the new school.

The goundwork continues however and things are moving quite quickly.

The last day of the week and we now have a trench. It was late afternoon when they laid the very first concrete, just enough to shore up the corners. They also laid a ramp for vehicles to get in and out of the trench.

Friday 26th June and the steel re-enforcement is being laid ready for the concrete base.

30th June and this month has flown by. We can see things happening now, the first foundations have gone in and it's all very exciting.

We're expecting news about the webcam any time now, so keep your eyes on the July folder.
